How it all began

VIBRE was created in March 2017 by Raffaele Salvemini, Sara Piras and Stefano Stravato, Biomedical Engineers and colleagues at several projects they started together during the university years.

At the beginning, VIBRE was designed to be a mind-driven virtual reality for post-stroke rehabilitation, an ambitious project that needed strong knowledge in many fields. For this reason, the team was joined by Simone Cesarano, Physiotherapist specialized in neurological pathologies, and Luca Talevi, BCI Engineer.

In the first year of activity, the idea was refined and enriched until we understood that the real power of our project was not in the application itself, but in the technology at the base of it, that allowed to control anything we wanted just with thoughts.

At this point, Marco Renzi joined the team, a Software Engineer that boosted our development. We renamed the rehabilitation project Armonia, currently in development, and created BrainArt, a BCI for generative art that helped us to collect a lot of data and make people understand the power of this technology.

Lately, we added “the missing piece” to our vision: we are transforming BCIs into Wearable Devices with Web-Based technology making them easily scalable.

On this basis, we developed MindPrint, the first biometric authentication system in the world based on brain signal recognition. This technology confirmed the already existing hypothesis that every brain is different and can somehow be used as a biometric marker.

This discovery will disrupt Biometrics, but this is not the only sector we want to revolutionize. By giving BCIs a new dimension we are making them more affordable, reliable and user-friendly, this is the first step towards our goal:
